Thermal R&D setup

Ok, well I think I'm gonna give in and get a thermal exhaust. I just ordered my Kamakazi header (2.5", with 2.5"collector w/ceramic sphere in the collector?, and it ceramic). I know I need a 3" exhaust to make the best hp. I currently have the Top Fuel exhaust which is 2.25" I think. I am planing on going to get a test pipe, and attaching the thermal to it. (I really hate throwing away my Top Fuel! Cost way too much money for one year of use) Any way I heard that thermal makes a stealth axel-back piece. Its said to quiet it down alot!. Is this true? Also does the sphere in the header really work? Thanks for the help!

Thermal makes a 2.25" (too small) and a 3" Turbo. The stock 3" turbo will be loud as sh!t for a SC application. What you have "heard" about is the Endyn modified version of the same, with extra resonators and baffling. Unfortunately Endyn isnt offering them anymore. I already looked into it, I have the same Kami header as you, I'll be getting (hopefully) a Car-Sound 2.5" CAT and then a TypeR cat-back (which is already 2.5" I think).

I called Kamakaze direct. I payed around 360 shipped. Don't forget I got a type R header design for my type R, with 2.5" piping, and a 2.5" collector with sphere(said to reduce turbulence), and I got the ceramic.

just wanted to know. i thought the reason why we all get JRSC was to stay smog/carb legal? or at least look legal. well the kami header is not carb legal right? in fact the design 4 to 1 header is not a legal design at all anymore. right?

Only a couple of us live in Cali. that need CARB certified parts for SMOG legality. The majority of the people on this board bought the SC for its daily practicality. But the hunger for whp have caused many to up the ante (inevitable), switch FI platforms, or jump ship all together....hehehe.

Mike when is your next dyno session, I want to watch how well the headers and exhaust perform. Thanks.

Well I'm actually going this Fri again. I'm not testing the exhaust setup yet. i wont be getting the header in for another two weeks, and I still haven't decided on the exhaust. (I kinda fear it since I'm in CA.) I will be testing my pulley/belt trick on Fri. Hopefully I can get a extra 10-15whp from this, and stay under 8psi. If you want to come and see the testing, I will arrive around 10:00am, and leave around 12:00.

rhboosted, are you going to get a GSR Crank Pulley and a GSR Blower Pulley, please explain this pulley belt trick... and i hope everything works out for you, i'm not quite ready to up the ante and raise boost, next step for me is the J&S

Well, I guess I will spill the beans. I just came back from dynospot a few minutes ago. The trick so far seems to be pointless. No, I'm not going to change the JRSC pulley. If I was, I would get the 8psi pulley, not the 7psi GSR pulley. My idea at first seemed good, however, in the end it seemed not worth it. I will be at dynospot tomorow testing out some other tricks. Maybe down the line this year, I will test the GSR intake cam on my car. Thats said to raise who ALOT!
